     Lin Chi-Ling is a Taiwanese model and actress whose fame skyrocketed at such a rapid pace it was coined as "The Lin Chi-Ling Phenomenon."  She has studied overseas at the University of Toronto and had completed her degree in 1997 with majors in Western art history and economics.  She began her career in 2002 but it was in 2004 when Chi-Ling's fame reached extreme heights after being featured on building size posters, billboards and TV commercials.


     Lin Chi-Ling has been known as "The First Face of Taiwan" by the media in Taiwan.  It is hard to believe that Chi-Ling is her late 30s because her beauty and youthfulness is like someone in their 20s.  It is rare to have as much success as Chi-Ling has had considering that began her career in the entertainment industry when she was in her late 20s.  She started her first acting debut in 2008 as Xiao Qiao in the Chinese movie called Red Cliff.  She is the official spokesperson for China Airlines and Longines.

     Ruby Lin made her debut in a TV commercial in Taiwan in 1995 and played a few supporting roles in various Taiwanese dramas.  She rose to stardom in 1999 when she landed a leading actress role as Princess Ziwei in Princess Pearl. Ruby is known throughout Asia for her spectacular acting talents and the Korean media has dubbed her as Taiwan's number one actress and goddess of ancient Chinese series.  She has opened up her own company in 2010 called Ruby Lin Studio.

     Hebe Tian joined the talent search held by HIM International Records in 2000 and was one of the three chosen girls to be in the Taiwanese group known as S.H.E.  The group made a major impact with their music in Taiwan and throughout Asia.  Hebe is also a television host and has tried acting but did not have much success.

     Hebe is the most popular girl amongst the three in the band.  She is pretty, funny, confident, and has amazing vocals.  Even with the band still together, she released her highly anticipated album back in 2010 which was titled, To Hebe.

Elva Hsiao

     Elva Hsiao joined the New Talent Singing Awards Vancouver in 1998 and became one of the 12 finalists.  Even though she didn't win, it gave her the confidence and recognition from other companies.  Her first album was launched in Taiwan and has sold over 1 million copies in Asia.  Elva won the award as the "Best Selling Chinese Artist" at the 2001 World Music Awards.

     

     Elva is known for her strong and powerful singing voice.  She was so popular that both Warner Music Taiwan and Sony BMG wanted to sign her.  She is one of those girls who gets prettier and prettier as she ages.  

Maggie Wu
